ST. GEORGE’S SCHOOL, ETHIOPIA

2012 – ongoing

St. George’s School was built by the Northwood African Education Foundation (NAEF) which is run by the parents, children and staff at Broomwood Hall, an independent school in South West London. We have been heavily involved from the beginning with both Michael and Lucy continuously working on the project. Lucy spent 8 months out in Ethiopia on site overseeing Phase 2 of the build and is part of the executive team.

Smith & Brooke Architects worked in conjunction with the New York based architect, Alison Mears. The largest part of the project was completed between 2013-2018, being 12 classrooms, a dining room and kitchen and administrative offices. St George’s is an ongoing project, with the NAEF continuously fundraising and we are currently overseeing the work to build an additional two classrooms, as well as a multipurpose hall for sports and community events.
